Do You Inspire Action?

Do You Inspire Action?

Being eloquent is lovely, but it’s not an essential leadership trait.

The real issue is, do you speak in a way that inspires action? That’s the mark of a leader.

You may not have assessed the impact of your voice before. So consider it now.

After you’ve led a brainstorm discussion or a meeting…what happens? If people leave the room with a clear mandate, motivated to bring ideas to life – that’s leadership. If they arrive at the next meeting ready to discuss their progress and next steps – you’re a rainmaker.

Having a powerful voice has little to do with wit or presentation skills. It’s about understanding people, and how to convey ideas in a way that sparks excitement and movement.

The only path to refining your voice is by increasing your awareness those around you. Tune into how they feel when you speak. Notice if their energy is draining or if they seem ready to take the world by storm.  If it’s the latter, you know your voice is being used empathetically and effectively.

Although this post has focused on using your voice,  I do also want to acknowledge that today (November 11) is a day we treasure silence.  A minute of silence to honour all those who have protected and continue to protect our freedom. My deep and heartfelt appreciation.
